WALT WHITMAN TALKS ABOUT THE MOON

(based On lines from Specimen Days)
Is there not
About the Moon
Some relation,
Some reminder,
Which no poem
Or its writer
Has yet caught?

PROVERBS:

An orange can't be too round.
The planets never touch.
Geese can't fly backwards.
At night milk is black.

I HAD A VISION THAT I WAS IN HEAVEN

I had a vision that I was in Heaven.
Over my head I heard a choir singing
More beautiful than any I'd ever heard before.
I searched through the city passionate to find them,
Following the sound through the golden streets.
Finally I turned a corner and saw
Thousands of sparrows singing! Singing!
How appropriately perfect, I thought, and woke up.
