Alexander Calder got his inspiration for mobiles after visiting this famous European painter's studio. "Though I had heard the word 'modern' before, I did not consciously know or feel the term 'abstract.'" Calder suggested to this painter that he somehow animate the blocks of yellow, red, blue, black, and white paper - "oscillate in different directions and at different amplitudes." The painter didn't take Calder's advice but Calder did. Name the painter that influenced Calder's revolutionary idea.
