Dear Reader,

In this issue I offer some possible solutions to certain current problems, that I've been working on and thinking about since Musea began in 1992. These are summaries only.  For more information contact me and comments are welcome. Remember the first step to solving any problem is to be open to new solutions!

Then in the 2nd part, I list my recent music videos and summaries.  LOTS of original music that I've been posting on my YOUTUBE channel!!!  Listen - It's pretty good!

PROBLEMS / SOLUTIONS

PROBLEM:  Payments for Musicians, Writers, Filmmakers, Artists, Photographers, etc.

SOLUTION:  Pennies for Play anywhere online.

There is an easy way to get content out of the hands of corporations and back into the hands of the content makers.

Set up an online pay for play service where clicking on a webpage pays a penny (or an amount set up by the content owner such as 1- 5 cents), to access the work of the artist, musician, writer, filmmaker, architect, dancer, photographer, journalist, scientist, blogger, video maker, etc.

This simple step eliminates the entire layer of corporate middlemen, allows any artist of any kind to get compensation, and allows any artist or media to be free of any ads or sponsors. Put artists ahead of streaming platforms, and things change for the better.

PROBLEM:  Power in an Emergency

SOLUTION: People Power

Remember not every solution needs massive amounts of money, big business, or high tech.  Hardly any community can afford that.  How about low tech solutions?

Where there are people there is power.  People can drive power just as well as wind or water.  Where are the think tanks? Bikes 50 years ago could generate power for bike lights - does anyone think all the brain power at MIT and in the world, could not figure out a low tech way for people to generate their own people power?

Don't forget low tech solutions. They are cheaper and easier to set up - great for poorer communities, and they don't involve the government.

Turn a water wheel or windmill sideways and you have a revolving door or turnstile.

Hook a generator to a revolving door of a skyscraper, or a turnstile at a stadium or the doors at a concert hall or a relief center, and you have people power - even in a blackout. Free, clean, renewable, on site, and even healthy, power.

PROBLEM:  Cost of College

SOLUTION:  Wiki - College

Here is a way to get low-cost college to anyone in two words.  Wiki-College.

Here's how it could work. Best teachers, video tape their courses, open up chat rooms to discuss lessons, tape and post them as they accumulate, and have a final test for a fee.  Part of the fee goes to wiki and the other part to the teacher.  That means teacher residuals from now on - like royalties from records, films, books, etc.

Pass the final?  Then the student gets college credit for the class.

This is sort of a universal university online that contains teachers and students with no colleges in the way!  Is it every bit as good as the rich can afford? No.  But will it do for anyone who wants college but can't afford it. Yes.  Start with a 2 year, junior college, curriculum.

PROBLEM:  Worker's rights

SOLUTION: National Workers Union like AARP

Consider a National Union for workers, based on the AARP model that supports seniors with 37 million members.  The workers "AARP" would advocate for workers instead of seniors.

Getting a union started for a specific industry, or keeping it going once it is started is tough. It takes courage to join, and there is always the chance of losing your job. That's really hard on those with families to support.

Workers, all workers, it's time to act together, in a way that protects all.

No matter what your job is, all workers in the country, could join by sending in $1 or donation, for annual dues. For that money the workers union would: set up a group of lobbyists to lobby congress for worker's rights in all industries, report updates on progress through the net, and a monthly magazine, and support workers in a bind. This bypasses many of the struggles that most unions have to face now.

PROBLEM: Poverty

SOLUTION: CBAs

CBA's or community bank accounts is a way to end poverty in the US without spending a penny.

Take 10 Billion per state - just a sixth of the money spent on the last war - put it in local state banks, or credit unions, and give the monthly INTEREST that it generates to that state’s poorest cities or counties, one at a time. Then when done, repeat the process, over and over from then on until poverty is eliminated throughout the state.

The capital is never spent, the interest money keeps coming in every month, FOREVER, and the bank has money that by the CBA rules, it can only loan to those communities too. This empowers the poorest communities to solve their problems in the way best suited for them, with little government interference or red tape. These people, know how to best support their community and all in it, with the money. There will also be some reasonable rules, checks and balances, on how the money can be spent, receipts saved, etc.  This is economic development that builds up, not trickles down.

PROBLEM: The Arts Controlled by Too Few and in a slump.

SOLUTION:   The Arts and Media revolution.

The arts are the soul and lifeblood of a nation. It is its culture. The culture of a country is not up for bid. The people, and the government of the people, should oppose any system that allows only corporate arts to be promoted, distributed, and reviewed; while all independent arts are marginalized, censored, or kept from reasonable coverage.

The arts revolution would bring these changes:

1. Fair guaranteed reviews to all (see separate entry.)

2. Fair no-ad media coverage based on quality not promotion budgets.

3. Pennies for play - the content creator would get a penny for every click on say a chapter of his novel, a song, a painting, a blog post. (see separate entry.)

4. The break up of those few companies that make the art, distribute the art, promote the art, and then review the art.  They can do any one of those, but not all four! That is too much control in too few hands.  The arts of the world cannot be owned by a few conglomerates.

5. City art centers, that are open to promoting all local and visiting artists of any kind.

PROBLEM: How did life began.

Solution: My Guess: Suggestion that life is the only chemical system that survived the daily UV light.  The rest was inert and unchanged or destroyed over time.

PROBLEM:  How to revitalize downtown Dallas.

SOLUTION:  Main Street becomes a Pedestrian Walkway.

Make Main Street a no-car, pedestrian walkway from Downtown through Deep Ellum to Fair Park. Then take it the other way, across the Trinity River on a pedestrian bridge to one of the main roads in Oak Cliff.  Later you can keep it going as far as you like in both directions, and/or you could add other streets in downtown Dallas.

Be sure to add these features that would make it more fun for all:  police walking on patrol or on bikes, some lunch wagons here and there, and electric carts to move people up and down the Pedestrian Walkway.

With this one step you've got a new Dallas, and a one of a kind US downtown. You've also got a world attraction for tourists.  This would be the Dallas version of San Antonio's "River-walk"; but with a walkway not a waterway. It would tie in all the neighborhoods mentioned, revitalize all of them, and make a reason for people to go, shop, explore, celebrate, and live, Downtown Dallas/Deep Ellum/Fair Park/Oak Cliff.

PROBLEM: Perpetual War

SOLUTION: Most pose this problem as having only 2 possible solutions - bravely soldier on, or cowardly withdraw.  But there are many many ways for the most powerful nation on Earth, to resolve conflicts without either of those poor solutions. I've suggested 8 alternatives to start with.

Remember the enemies of this country know that the quickest way to drain the strength of this country is to keep it in perpetual war. That saps our resources, standing in the world, best and brightest young people, and our spirit. It also allows the government to silence many of its critics - which it often does in even small wars.

PROBLEM:  Housing Shortage

SOLUTION:  Small Homes

Three points to get affordable new houses to most people: singles, seniors, couples just starting out, etc.

1. Small houses that cost 30-50K at most.  Architects love to design these small homes, and have many great ideas.

2.  Don’t lump them into ghettos.  Better to make a city law that only 5-10 small houses can be built in any neighborhood in the city.

3. Prefabrication with 10-30 models to choose from to avoid the cookie cutter look!

Now about the hardcore homeless. Remember if every church in the US, adopted 1 homeless person, the problem would be solved, with thousands of churches left over!

PROBLEM:  Education Reforms.

SOLUTION:  See this expanded essay on all aspects of learning. There is a lot there!

https://musea.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/essay-on-education-reprint-from-musea/

PROBLEM: The cars all look alike!

SOLUTION:  Cover electric cars with the frames of classic cars from the past. Then add all the modern amenities.  Make limited editions of classic cars from the 50s, 60s, etc.

PROBLEM: Newscasters interviewing hostile subjects.

SOLUTION: " Enough Rope" Technique of Interviewing.  The interviewer agrees too much with what the subject says!  "Don't you think your behavior was god like and perfect?"  Then instead of his pat answers to tough questions against his behavior, the subject has to backtrack on the suggested too extreme position!

PROBLEM:  Thinking Creatively

SOLUTION:  See Musea's essay titled "Cogitology" where Gregory K. H. Bryant, and I assembled many key points to help you think more clearly and creatively.

PROBLEM:  Mass Marketing of Paintings/Drawings like books, films, and records.

SOLUTION:  The new printing technology now allows exact replicas.  These exact replicas can either be sold in multiple runs, like books, videos, and records, with the artist getting a fair royalty; or they can be used to tour the country, while the originals stay safe at home.  That would also allow the world to see copies of all the works now in storage in the worlds major museums!

PROBLEM:  Reviews for all musicians, painters, writers, filmmakers, etc.

SOLUTION: Review Website. Key to any artists career is fair reviews. This online site would guarantee a fair, permanently posted online, review for any musician, painter, writer, filmmaker, etc. for a processing fee. No ads.  Judged on merit not promotion.

PROBLEM: New Paradigm of Corporations versus People, to control the government.

SOLUTION:  This is a tough one when lobbyists override the concerns of people and those in government depend on corporate money to stay in positions of power. But here is the problem with that system:  Day after day it's becoming more and more clear.  Both corporations and people are fighting for control of the government. Corporations usually win. We now have a sort of Corporate Socialism where the government is controlled by corporate lobbyists.

Look at this list of problems facing the nation.  These major problems all have something in common.  PEOPLE vs. CORPORATIONS.

1. NET NEUTRALITY  2. OPIOID CRISIS  3. BANKING CRISIS  4. MASS SHOOTINGS.  5. MILITARY SPENDING  6. TAX REFORM  7. DATA MINING and ADS  8. HEALTH COSTS  9. CLIMATE CRISIS  10. PRISONS  11. MEDIA  12. TOBACCO  13.  EDUCATION  14. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY/ PUBLIC DOMAIN.

PROBLEM:  How many separate 'brain' systems do we have?

COMMENT:  My best guess is that we have at least these four and I'm still counting:  conscious mind, subconscious mind, enteric nervous system, and sex drive. My interest and study is in the subconscious mind.  There are so many mysteries still there.  Stay tuned!

PROBLEM: There seems to be speed limits to time - from 0 velocity to just under the speed of light.  Particles that are massless, and go the speed of light, are outside time!

But why???

COMMENT:  Took me years just to come up with the question!  That's as far as I got.
